Bob Dylan's label has confirmed that the legendary songwriter is indeed making a charity Christmas record. The album, entitled Christmas In The Heart, is set to include such classics as Winter Wonderland and Little Drummer Boy with U.S. royalties going to charity Feeding America. This will be the first time he has recorded a holiday album.
These are busy days for Bob Dylan fans. Following reports that he was quizzed by police after being picked up in a New Jersey housing area, possibly looking for Bruce Springsteen's former home. In addition, he recently claimed to be in contact with GPS manufacturers to be the voice of a GPS system.
Speaking about his choice of supporting Feeding America, a fund that provides food for the underprivileged, Dylan said "It's a tragedy that more than 35 million people in this country alone - 12 million of those, children - often go to bed hungry and wake up each morning unsure of where their next meal is coming from." According to various sources, proceeds in the UK and Europe will go to organisations that provide meals for the underprivileged during the holiday season.
In other Bob news, Charlie Sexton has returned as live guitarist on Dylan's never-ending tour. According to Rolling Stone, the Arc Angels guitarist said of his return: "I love and respect Bob and am very happy to be reunited with my friend onstage".
Sexton previously toured with Dylan between 1999 and 2002, a period that was seen by many fans as a highpoint in the never-ending tour.
