Morrissey not for sale

Comments

Morrissey has spoken out about a bunch of new re-issues his former labels are releasing, whilst also claiming he no longer recieves royalties from them.

The former Smith is unhappy with the release of two boxed sets, The 7" Singles '88-91' and The HMV/Parlophone Singles '91-95' and is urging his fans not to buy them.

A statement issued on his behalf claims he receives no payment from the record companies and has not been consulted about the re-issue:

"Morrissey would like it to be known that he has not been consulted by HMV/Parlophone/EMI with regards to two forthcoming boxed sets of Morrissey singles. Morrissey does not approve such releases and would ask people not to bother buying them.", the satement goes on "Morrissey receives no royalty payments from EMI for any back catalogue, and has not received a royalty from EMI since 1992."

As if that didn't have you putting your wallets back in your pockets then this surely will - he also doesn't want you to purchase some of the Smiths re-issues, "Morrissey also does not approve of, and was not consulted on, the Rhino box of Smiths CDs, or the Warner releases of Smiths LPs on 180 gramme vinyl. Morrissey last received a royalty payment from Warners ten years ago, and, once again, he would ask people not to bother buying the reissued LPs or CDs."

For those still desperate to splash some cash on a Mozza releases we've compiled a handy checklist for you below.
