Noel Gallagher has anounced he is quitting Oasis. In a statement issued on the official Oasis website last night he said:
"It's with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer."
The band had bee due to play at the Rock En Seine Festival in Paris yesterday evening with the gig being pulled at the very last minute. The support band announced Oasis would not be performing due to an altercation within the band, leaving many in the audience thinking it was a joke until the venue's Tv screens confirmed the announcement, leaving many fans bewildered.
In the statement Noel said sorry to those expecting to see the band at the event and their forthcoming dates, adding "Apologies to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan."
The history of Oasis has been littered with fall-outs, most of them between Liam and Noel with the brother's fractious relationship leading to walk-outs and bust ups since the early days, previously culminating in Liam not showing up for gigs on occasion and Noel quitting past tours. It seems things had reached a new low however in recent months with Noel telling Q Magazine in April this year (Q275) "I don't like him and he doesn't like me, that much is evident." and describing Liam as "A man with a fork in a world of soup".
This latest announcement from Noel does sound more certain and definite than any previous statements, you can bet however that no matter what happens this won't be the last word we'll hear on the subject.
Oasis Update: Scottish singer-songwriter Amy MacDonald was playing at the same event as Oasis and was told by the promoter Liam had smashed Noel's guitar, updating her twitter, she posted:
"Oasis cancelled again with one minute to stage time!!! Liam smashesd noels guitar, huuuge fight!".
QTheMusic.com is also hearing rumours that Liam has enough new self-penned songs for a solo album of his own should he wish to pursue that course...

I for one never saw them, but prayed that maybe one day I would. Noel can ultimately continue a music career, and I may get to see him. But I wonder if Liam truly realizes where this leaves him? I'd be calling and apologizing to big bro very quickly.

It's the big one...............you all knew it was coming! They will get back together, but it won't be for another 5 to 6 years.

I was lucky enough to have seen them twice on their last tour (Birmingham & Coventry) but feel for the fans who never had the chance to experience an Oasis gig. There'll be no problems for Noel; he can sing, write, play a variety of instruments but its difficult to imagine an entire album of Liam-penned songs!

I was shocked when i woke up and found this news. i got to see them at wembley stadium on the last night! I will never forget that night, truly biblical!
I hope and pray they get back together and produce one more great album because i know they have it in them. But i am looking forward to solo careers from both and cant wait to see what each can do on their own, especially Liam
