Radiohead might never release another full length album, that's the prognosis from Thom Yorke who says the band can't face another lengthy session following 2007's music industry changingIn Rainbows.
Following the release last week of a single track - Harry Patch (In Memory Of) - in an interview with Believer Magazine he indicates this might be a sing of things to come, "None of us want to go into that creative hoo-ha of a long-play record again," he said. "Not straight off. I mean, it's just become a real drag. It worked with In Rainbows because we had a real fixed idea about where we were going. But we've all said that we can't possibly dive into that again. It'll kill us.", before hinting singles and E.P.'s may be the way forward for the band.
He also goes on to criticises the way the internet is currently being utilised to sell and promote music, "if you forget about the money issue for just a minute, if it's possible to do that--because these are people's livelihoods we're talking about--and you look at it in terms of the most amazing broadcasting network ever built, then it's completely different. In some ways, that's the best way of looking at it. I mean, I don't spend my f***ing life downloading free MP3s, because I hate the websites. No one seems to know what they're talking about.

If EP's and singles mean more regular releases from them, then cool. Why spend 3 years making an album when singles occur every 3-6 months? The fans get new music from the band and the band dont get stuck playing the same 8 songs, some of which are already 3 years old for them when they're made public.

Yes, a lack of Radiohead LPs would sadden me. But I do understand Thom's lack of luster about the modern LP. The sloppy and deranged common listener these days doesn't buy albums; they buy one or two songs they like off of albums and never listen (or appreciate) the rest. So maybe EPs are the way to go. Play to your audience's attention span.

Oh silly stupid ridiculous me. I'd actually thought that for musicians the album was their canvas. :( Sad, Thom.

Well, if E.P's and singles will be best for the band, why the fuck not? Just because full-lengths are more convenient for the fans, why should they think about that when it will ruin their relationship with making music? We are fans because we like them! Why the hell try to make 'em do something that doesnt go with their style? :]

I think its sad, Thom suggests no one seems to know what they are talking about and i agree. People frustrate me when they buy a couple of singles from itunes and not the album. Radiohead create great albums. If we lose albums because of the interent then the 'amazing broadcasting network' will have taken the heart and soul out of the industry. Perhaps i'm just a hippy who still enjoys buying an album from a shop, listening to it for the first time while looking at the artwork and actually reading the lyrics. I also disagree that you have to have your direction fixed in order to write an album, the very nature of exploration has made for some great albums in the past...where the ending is some place very different to where you started....the last copper temple clause album was a break through for me in albums that work as a collection or a journey of the musicians making it.

Radiohead fucken rocks, fuck ppl who dnt listen to full albums, ther are many out there who still do and all 7 of radiohead's albums are very legit to listen to. Continue making more albums and continue with the success you've already made, music rocks and Radiohead rocks at playing it.

Totally understand the fact the Radiohead members are well in their 40's, I should expect a period of slowing down. They in fact in need of a period of reforming their opinions in life and intelligently re-express it through their voices and instruments. There’s great wealth to dig and feel nostalgic about from Pablo to Rainbows.
Thom, what you've just said to the believer proves to me that you're a Legend identity.

Well... If Radiohead would stop doing music that would bother me a lot ... it would be almost like a person of my family that would be missing ... but what Thom said is that they could be stoping doing LPs and only realease EP or singles ... and that's not so bad at all ... we would have to wait a little less for new music, and as Radiohead are so creative ... we would be able to see more different sonds in less time ... cause the band wouldn't be a prisoner of 12 tracks (all in a similar style like an LP is in most of the cases) ... Keep doing music and Live concerts ... That's what i wish the most ... and ... HOW ABOUT RADIOHEAD GIVE PORTUGAL a concert? I's been a huge wait since last time !!!... Peace. Rui from Portugal

Yes it would bother me greatly. I have been into the band since the start. eps are not I believe, to be the way forward, a full length album is the only medium were an artist can fully get their ideas across. Its a sad direction for the band to take and I hope that they have a rethink.
