Rodrigo y Gabriela have compiled a Spotify playlist of their top tracks exclusively for Q.
Following the success of their eponymous debut, the Mexican duo release their first entirely self-penned album on September 7. This, obviously, means it's time for them to pay some tribute to some of their favourite artists.

2. Jimi Hendrix - 'Voodoo Child (Slight Return)'. Influenced the RyG track 'Buster Voodoo' (dedicated to Jimi Hendrix)
RyG: "Think this was the first guitar riff I learnt as a nine year old!"
3. Al Di Meola - 'Oblivion'. Influenced the RyG track 'Logos' (dedicated to Al Di Meola)
RyG: "Guitar master, not a stranger to metal heads like us due to his early rock influences"
5. Michel Camilo - 'On Fire'. Influenced the RyG track 'Santo Domingo' (dedicated to Michel Camilo)
RyG: "One of the few people who have influenced our music and inspired us that ain't a guitarist!"
6. Paco De Lucia - 'Entre Dos Aguas'. Influenced the RyG track 'Master Maqui' (dedicated to Paco De Lucia)
RyG: "We have met people in the music business who still don't know who he is! Shame on them, Paco De Lucia is the music itself"
7. Shakti - 'Get Down And Sruti'. Influenced the RyG track 'Savitri' (dedicated to Shakti)
RyG:"A unique acoustic fusion mixing jazz with Indian music - true musical pioneers"
8. Astor Piazzolla - 'Adios Nonino'. Influenced the RyG track 'Hora Zero' (dedicated to Astor Piazzolla)

9. Jorge Reyes Valencia - 'El Contador Des Historias'. Influenced the RyG track 'Chac Mool' (dedicated to Jorge Reyes)
RyG: "Mexican New Age musician who melted Middle Eastern, Indian and pre-Hispanic influences into his work"
10. Pantera - 'Walk'. Influenced the RyG track 'Atman' (dedicated to Dimebag Darrell)
RyG: "He influenced and inspired a whole new generation of guitarists around the world, his legacy is as endless as his memory is within us"
12. Testament (featuring RyG contributor Alex Skolnick, who guests on Atman) - 'Crown'
RyG: "Thrash metal guitar hero of Testament, he came to our studio in Mexico to lay down his incredible solo on 'Atman'
13. Alex Skolinick Trio (again featuring RyG contributor Alex Skolnick, who guests on 'Atman') - 'Goodbye To Romance'
