Have you ever considered mixing, in equal parts, weapons grade mathematics with multi-layered, epidemically infectious melodies? Kingston based, math-rock trio Tubelord, gave it go. They've called it He Awoke Upon A Bench In Abergavenny.
More than a mere aversion of indenti-kit pop song structures, Abergavenny offers fresh possibility to song creation. Glockenspiel delicacy intersects diamond-edged riff aggression creating a relentless melodic schizophrenia. This tempestuousness is offset with terse clips of epic and comforting melody that, in pinball fashion, bounce off the pleasure receptors of the mind.
A few years ago, commercially speaking, He Awoke Upon A Bench In Abergavenny would have been akin to the French regency's relationship with the guillotine. But times have changed, and in testament to the forward thinking of Tubelord and their burgeoning fan base, this and the subsequent album Our First American Friends, are set for success.
He Awoke Upon A Bench In Abergavenny is available for free download here.
The album Our First American Friends is out October 12.

I have too much love for this band. And the lead singer, Joe. What a babe.
