To celebrate The Boss' 60th birthday - and, quite frankly, he makes us 'young 'uns' feel a bit old and creaky just thinking about his 16 albums, 51 singles, 19 Grammys, supercharged three-hour-plus shows and extensive charity work, among other things - some Q staff reveal their own personal best bits of Bruce Springsteen so far...
Paul Rees, Editor: "Jungleland. The first time I ever encountered The Boss was via a live clip of he and The E Street Band performing this Born To Run epic on The Old Grey Whistle Test. If memory serves, I wet myself."
Dave Everley, Associate Editor (Features): "My favourite track is Racing In The Streets - The Boss's epic eight-minute meditation on lost youth via the medium of fast cars. Anyone who still thinks he's only about big, bombastic stadium albums should dig out this track from Darkness On The Edge Of Town.
Mark Blake, Editor-In-Chief, Q Special Editions: "Candy's Room. Sexual tension and a manic guitar solo from Springsteen's most underrated album."
Russ O'Connell, Picture Director: "Outlaw Pete. Watching him play this out live in the States on our Q cover shoot was an amazing experience."
Lauren Kreisler, Marketing Manager: "Seeing him come on stage as surprise guest with The Gaslight Anthem at the John Peel tent at Glastonbury 09, they duetted to The '59 Sound, immense, Paul Rees's head actually fell off at that point."
Mischa Pearlman, Aloud.com/Q Tickets: "Seeing Bruce play Backstreets at the Emirates stadium last year. My favourite Bruce song ever, and it was only my second time seeing him live (the first being the day before) after 15 years of fandom. I was so excited I actually squealed like a girl..."
Jo Kendall, Qthemusic.com: "Bruce's cameo in High Fidelity. If I was having boyfriend trouble, I'd want The Boss to materialise and be my Denise Robertson."
