Mumford and Sons - Little Lion Man

Trying not to sound like the one of those pleasantly verbose Jack Daniel's adverts you see in train stations may well be an ask too far when describing the musical endeavours of Mumford and Sons. Gutsy, warm, old-time music that marries the flavours of country, bluegrass and folk. See what I mean?

The London based quartet draw on the romance and honesty of a Crosby, Still, Nash and Young influence. The result is a band unspoilt by progress... (there I go again).

Their first single Little Lion Man is the sum of these descriptive parts. Regret and unresolved heartbreak form the topic of a haunting swathe of percussive folk. The might and clarity of Mr. Mumford's vocals are memorable enough even to have the Kings of Leon rattled.

Two year old, London made, Mumford on the rocks. That'll do nicely.

Mumford&Sons are also playing a special Q gig as part of Q Awards with Russian Standard Vodka - The Gigs. Click here for the full line-up and ticket info. See you there?

Single Little Lion Man is released on September 28.
