On Monday, October 26 Q will once again honour the biggest and best stars in music at The Awards.
Q Awards 2009 with Russian Standard Vodka celebrate a great year in music as Oasis, Muse, Kasabian, U2, Florence And The Machine, Kings Of Leon, Dizzee Rascal and Arctic Monkeys prepare to fight it out for a golden Q.
Last year's Q Awards with Russian Standard Vodka saw Coldplay take home the prestigious Best Act in the World Today however this year they face strong opposition in the form of recently split Oasis, Muse, Arctic Monkeys and the all-conquering Kings Of Leon.
Kasabian and Florence And The Machine both crown their hugely successful year by garnering three nominations apiece.
Comenting on the nominees Q Magazine Editor-In-Chief Paul Rees highlighted the breadth of Q reader's taste, "The Q Awards prides itself on honouring the best popular music of the year and the 2009 vintage is no exception. Once again the nominations prove that great music continues to be made across a broad range of styles. The nominations are compiled from votes cast in their thousands by Q's readers, listeners, viewers and online users, so they reflect the choice of the nation's music fans."

Jonjo, what about the seaside rendezvous gigs Muse did in Teignmouth earlier this month! They looked pretty live to me!
Why U2 not up for best act in world today I really don't know! Kasabian for best track, Florence etc for breakthrough act, U2 best album and the mighty Muse for best act in world!

Echoing all those comments about U2....Muse is opening for them...so are Black Eye Peas, who, though not nominated here have the hottest record in the US...
To expand, I take Coldplay...
I went to Coldplay and then U2 in Toronto. There was no comparison...the energy and spectacle of the 360 show was something that really has to be seen to be believed.
As to the mantle 'World's Biggest Band', its worth noting that the Coldpaly show sold 40,00 tickets here, but you could still get some within the last month before the show. U2 sold out 62,000 for the first show within hours, and then another 62,000 for the next night within a few days after..
As for the buzz, when U2 came to town every paper was running front page stories and radio stations were falling over themselves trying to get Bono et all to appear, while the band themselves were mobbed everywhere they went..
Coldplay got a nice review in the entertainment section.
One is a good band....the other are rock royalty.....

I'm love The Dead Weather and don't even want to vote for the other bands. Why can't I vote for The Dead Weather in their categories without voting for the other bands I don't even appreciate? And, by the way, they were hot at the Roseland Theatre in Portland, Oregon.

i'm so disappointed at blur. they reunite just to play some gigs and release a dual CD. does such kind of reunion thing make sense unless they push out new materials? it's nothing but a shame.
so they are just nominated in the best live act. they ruin their past fame and reputation out. i used to like their songs, and respected them. now it's over.
