The XX - indie's bright new hopes on zombies, pacing yourself and releasing their album.
5 bands we love right now:
Oliver: We had a headline show and we got a band called Trailer Trash Tracys to support us - they're very Twin Peaks-y.
Romy: Micachu & The Shapes - we toured with them and we became friends with them and their really brilliant.
Jamie: A producer called Troy Orbison.
Baria: Royksopp - especially that new song with Robyn.
Oliver: The Big Pink - a fantastic festival band.
4 things we always take on tour:
Romy: My vice with touring is phone bills. I go away and always end up speaking to people in England for hours. I always take my phone.
Oliver: I always thought it was a prissy thing to have but hand sanitiser. With all the portaloos... Baby wipes are vital too. They're a festival essential for anyone.
Romy: We've finally got a bus with a working DVD player.
Oliver: We've got Tekken 2 to play!
Baria: There is a bit of skill to it. Oliver's best.
Romy: We watched 28 Weeks later. I was a bit hungover and it was the worst thing. You're in a small van and there was blood and guts, I just couldn't watch.
3 things we hate about festivals:
Oliver: Every festival I've been to this year I've seen a gimp. It's terrifying. The kind of person who does gimp it up tends to flail a lot. And portable toilets, they're the worst.
Romy: Cold nights - you always forget how chilly it gets. At Latitude, I was the coldest I have ever been in my whole life.
2 brilliant things that have happened to The XX this year:
Romy: Getting the album out! We worked at it over Christmas and finally being able to get it out there is amazing. We also went to New York for 10 days.
Oliver: I'd never been to the States before. We played quite a lot of shows. I wasn't expecting so many people to come.
Romy: The Internet has really helped. I used to record things off the radio. Now, you can just find the song you've heard online. It just opens you up to so much stuff.
1 bit of festival advice:
Romy: Don't get too wasted, too early. We arrived at Leeds on the Friday and there was a woman already flaked out. I was like, it's the first night!
Baria: If we got drunk at every festival we'd be really ill!
