Sugababes 'disband'

Comments

After much speculation in recent weeks, Sugababes' only remaining original member, Keisha Buchanan, has been ousted from the band.

A statement on the band's website read: "The current line-up of the Sugababes has disbanded."

In a post to her Twitter account, Buchanan stated "I'm sad to say that I am no longer a part of the Sugababes ... Although it was not my choice to leave, it's time to enter a new chapter in my life ... I would like to state that there were no arguments, bullying or anything of the sort that lead to this. Sometimes a breakdown in communication and lack of trust can result in many different things."

Buchanan's replacement has already been named as Jade Ewen, the Andrew-Lloyd Webber-mentored Eurovision Song Contest UK entrant who was purported to have her debut album out this month, featuring songs by Gary Barlow. Now Ewen will perform with her new bandmates Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah at next week's Mobo Awards in Glasgow and will sing on Sugababes next single, About A Girl.

Buchanan will remain on Sugababes label, Island, as a solo artist.

Sugababes new album Sweet 7 is out on November 23.

  • Man they have had more singers than hot dinners, seriously get it together, they must be ultra bitchy to keep ousting a singer every time!

  • The sugababes is not the sugababes without Keisha. The name should change. Can you imagine Destiny's Child being the same group without Beyonce?
Whilst I think that Jade has talent, this whole thing stinks and I don't think she will get a fair chance for a while. This is goingto b e a hard road and learning curve! Good luck to Keisha in her solo endevours. Lets just hope the label gives them ALL a fair chance and promotion.
