On the search for a quick fix of summer? Look no further.
Florida/New York quartet The Drums certainly pull their share of Joy Division-shapes, although their affection for surfing, sunshine and everything Floridian suggest a more innocent approach to the Factory sound.
Minimalistic and staccato guitar sound on one side, they whistle, clap and harmonise their way through the naivety of youth on the other, like the musical spirit of pre-Elvis America being embraced by Vampire Weekend and the aforementioned Manchester scene.
Brilliant.
The Drums are playing London Barfly on October 27.
The Summertime EP is released in October through Moshi Moshi

infectious addictive and quite simply a great tune. 60's surfing music mixed with the haunting indie stylings of the likes of Joy Division. Love the video too. I've had nights where you just wanna run through the city lights til your lungs burst!Crazy feeling which somehow the video captures for me.
