Reminiscent of what must have been going through Brian Wilson's mind right before he went to sleep post- Pet Sounds era, In The NA tweaks the little things that constitute a pop song into a, well, slightly odd pop song.
With the title repeated until "Loose my step/ In the NA/ Wash my back/ in the NA" elegantly springs forth, Joel Gibbs' quirky and compelling track bridge the elegant with the eccentric, through staccato verse and chirpy chorus, never revealing the true purpose, or meaning, of 'the NA'. But does it really matter?
Add the quirkiness of the accompanying music video, and you have something truly original.
In The NA is taken from The Hidden Cameras fourth album, Origin: Orphan, out September 22.
