Best New Act presented by Red Stripe
White Lies have been announced as the winner of Best New Act at the Q Awards 2009 with Russian Standard Vodka.
The London trio, whose debut album To Lose My Life... went straight to #1 in January this year were refreshingly modest when accepting the award from Gary Numan: "We've never really won an award before so we don't really know what to say. Thanks very much to Q and to the Q Readers who voted for us."
White Lies also played a storming and intimate concert at the London Forum last week as part of The Gigs.
Last year's winner of Best New act was The Last Shadow Puppets.
