Blackchords - At World's End
Unlike some well-known lager brands, Australian post-punk upstarts, Blackchords, are loved as much here as they are down-under.
Their self-titled debut album is being described those ways as one of the best Australian debut albums ever. Interested yet?
Opening track At World's End has a despair quite contrary to its upbeat arrangement. Imagine Interpol with their top button undone. The eerie reverb of the verse is dropped as the chorus marches through a Gang Of Four style repetition of airtight, post-punk melody. That said though, it's Front-man Nick Milwright's subtle but poignant vocals that make this song so ruddy addictive.
You'll be won over after one listen.
Their self-titled debut album is released today.

I love this band, and can't wait to see them live this Friday at Pure Groove this Friday....I strongly recommend the album, not a weak track anywhere in sight.

Some tracks are brooding others are light, all are addictive. Lyrics that think but not too much. Nick has a Chris Martinesque twang to his voice at points. If you can see them live, do.
