Frightened Rabbit - Swim Until You Can't See Land

Comments

Frightened Rabbit have taken previous album Midnight Organ Fight's lyrical introspection and not so much turned it on it's head as looked outwards for Swim Until You Can't See Land, the first single from the follow up, due early in 2010 (as yet untitled).

Where Midnight Organ Fight dwelled on and dealt with feelings relating to a tumultuous break up, 'Swim' suggests the sequel may be a less melancholic affair, Scott Hutchinson's plaintive vocals and matter of fact lyrics complemented by an uplifting string and vocal arrangement via their stable mate Hauschka.

"So If I hadn't come now to the coast to disappear/I may have died in the landslide of the rocks and hopes and the fears/So swim until you can't see land" possibly as much about carrying on as coping. The dark days may not be entirely over but the sleepless nights have passed. No new dawn yet but daylight is creeping in...
