London's Jamie Alisdair Woon might yet be an undiscovered leaf in the thick forest of singer-songwriters, which of course doesn't do the 25-year old any justice, seeing how his oft-preferred choice of solely using his voice as rhythm, bass, treble and everything between, is as remarkable as it is fascinating.
Spirits, as such, is Woon alone, adding a Jeff Buckley-inspired melody on top of his own harmonies and beats. Suspending notes on end, Woon creates a track of outre atmospheric and folk-meets-gospel-tinged beauty with the result, inexplicably, being pop.
He might incorporate a backing band when playing live, but as far as sole melodic beatboxing goes, this is a compelling performance indeed.

I am delighted for Jamie - the world needs to hear his sublime voice, and subtle instrumentation, the power of the human voice is endless.
