Comments

What we've learned today:
1. After a bombardment of messages on Twitter, NASA gave in to McFly fans and played their #1 hit Star Girl to astronauts orbiting Earth. Space scientist Dr David Whitehouse told BBC Radio 5 live: "I thought this was a way, not only to get in touch between astronauts and ordinary people, but to get down with the kids."

2. Marc Marot, former head of Island Records has suggested that musicians should have a clause in their contracts that allows their label to intervene in case artists suffer "personal problems", such as anorexia, depression and drug problems.

3. Both Google and Facebook are reported to be developing online music services.

4. The Rakes have split.

5. Field Music are set to release a double album in February 2010.

6. Bon Jovi are reported to be the first act to play New Jersey's new Meadowlands Stadium. As the Daily B-Sides previously reported, "the other" hometown hero, Bruce Springsteen, was the last artist to perform at the soon-to-be-demolished Giants Stadium.

7. Pavement have announced a second day at Brixton Academy in May next year.

8. Paul McCartney will play a Christmas concert at the O2 Arena on December 22.

9. Lil' Wayne faces up to a year in jail after pleading guilty to attempted possession of a weapon in the second degree.

Daily Conundrum:
How warm is too warm for a triumphant Kasabian gig?

"Oh..but.." Of The Day:
From NY Times: "Facebook sees [its] gift store as a way to obtain the credit card numbers of more customers and develop a one-click payment mechanism that third-party developers can later use to sell virtual goods on the applications they are creating for the site."

Dictionary-defying Tabloid Headline Of The Day:
"Pixie Clot" (The Sun)

Oasis-Watch:
We were hoping for a surprise last-minute guest appearance at Kasabian's Forum gig, but sadly....

On The Office Stereo:
Frankie Goes To Hollywood (for way too long...)
Kasabian (not long enough...)
Paul Weller

  • Noche encantada.

    Las estrellas,
    en la inmensidad
    de un cielo
    cristalino, pintan
    el ritmo de
    un sueño silente
    y también encantado
    como el verso
    del sol que
    recuerda la rima.
