Comments

A number of musicians have joined a coalition to support Barack Obama's efforts to close the Guantanamo Bay prison.

According to the BBC, many of the artist who joined The National Campaign to Close Guantanamo are angry that their music has been used as an interrogation tool.

Among those who have signed up are REM, Pearl Jam, Rage Against The Machine,Trent Reznor, Roseanne Cash and Billy Bragg.

Michael Stipe & co released a statement saying "We have spent the past 30 years supporting causes related to peace and justice. To now learn that some of our friends' music may have been used as part of the torture tactics without their consent or knowledge, is horrific. It's anti-American, period."

President Obama pledged to close Guantanamo by January, but has met strong Republican opposition in Congress.
