Robert Plant was yesterday handed Q's Outstanding Contribution To Music at the Q Awards 2009 with Russian Standard Vodka.
Plant acceopted the award from Bob Harris and Tinariwen before launcing into a lenghty speech, mentioning, among other subjects, how he first got into singing and his concern for Africa. He also thanked an extensive variety of collaborators and friends, including Led Zep, Elvis, Arthur Lee, Damon Albarn, John Peel, Billy Fury, Ledbelly, Tim & Jeff Buckley and Peter Gabriel.
