Wales/London trio The Joy Formidable do live up to their name. Greyhond In The Slips, featuring vocals from ex-Mansun singer Paul Draper, is a spectacular wall of overdrive-ridden shoegaze-pop craftmanship, which, much like the recent efforts of Alberta Cross evokes the spirit of My Bloody Valentine, although the Welshmen rather slant towards what Smashing Pumpkins once were.
They're on tour for pretty much the rest of the year, either solo or as support for Editors, Temper Trap and Passion Pit. Plenty of chances to catch a glimpse then.
