Local Natives are riding the crest of a wave. Since whetting everybody in Austin's appetites and becoming one of the buzz bands at SXSW earlier this year, people have been expecting big things from these five Californians who now all live Monkees' style in shared house in L.A..
Full length debut Gorilla Manor landed last week, perfect time we thought, to find out who's influenced them and which artists are most likely to be playing on the tour bus.

St. Vincent - Marrow
I've been obsessed with this song for some time now. The mix of over-driven instruments that play in the chorus are one of the coolest things I've heard in a while.
Dirty Projectors - Useful Chamber
I feel like this song embodies the album so well, showcasing everything they do best; the harmonies, rhythmic chaos and David's meandering melodies. The spacing of it all is fantastic as well. Big fan.
Violent Femmes- Gimme the Car
Always loved the tone and attitude of Gordan's lyrics on this track
Pixies - Where is My Mind?
Probably their most popular and well know song, but I just rediscovered its beauty.
Bjork - Joga
Björk's voice has always killed me. This is one of my favorite tracks from the album.
Sufjan Stevens - UFO Song
Such a beautiful song, and the opener to Sufjan's masterpiece Illinois, a very influential album for me.
The Fun Powder Plot - Wild Beats
The perfect track to lead into a very solid sophomore album. I was immediately drawn to this track at first listen. It's been on repeat for some time now.
Sigur Ros - "Glósóli"
My obsession with this song comes in waves. Everytime I hear it, it's as if I've discovered an incredibly rare and beautiful species all over again. Building from almost nothingness into an intense, blaring bashfest of an outro... It's one of those songs that'll make your hairs stand on end.
Arctic Monkeys - The Jeweller's Hand
Great closing track from a great album. Brilliant, haunting lyrics - "Watching his exit is like falling off the ferry in the night"
Gorillaz - Tomorrow Comes Today
It's just this brooding, sinister groove that for some reason puts me in a good mood every time I hear it.
Debut album Gorilla Manor is out now.
