Mickey Gang - Horses Can't Dance
The not so Brazilian sounding Brazilian quartet Mickey Gang are the hottest thing to come out of their home nation since, the weather. Horses Can't Dance is their new song and crowd pleasing pop anthemia is close to the mark.
Opening the song you'll hear a brief but not ineffective dixie-rock sound reminiscent of the early Kings of Leon. From there song enters another phase of brevity with an 80's-staple-sound-synth-riff that gets the song up of its feet and onto the dance floor.
Before long the song finds its proper shoes and settles into one of the most perfect tracks for walking ever made. You know what we mean; one of those purposeful, to the beat, canters through the city. Perfect. To the mix, add the octave bounce of Kasabian and some reverb-free post punk guitar licks and hey presto!
The multitude of influences you'll hear are delivered, paradoxically, simply and cleanly. Horses can't dance has the sing-a-long infectiousness of a Disney classic and riffs hookier than an over-sized coat rack. Scrumptious.
Mickey Gang on myspace.
