There is something about Harrow quintet Rogues that brings out the ponderer in music journalists. But it's easy to see why. Dragging their feet through the times, all the way back some 25 years, their updated and polished version of pretty much every music genre preceded by 'new' (wave, romantics, rave...) they certainly cling to the past in the hopes of discovering something, well, new.
Successfully? Not really, but where MerryGoRound fails to break new ground, it champions on its quest for a suitably minimalistic dancefloor-filler. For Rogues' new single, in all its synth-and-harmonic glory, is a pulsating and falsetto-layered track slotted perfectly in a seat between Cut Copy and The Delays circa I See Colours. Certainly enjoyable.
