A new seaside music festival has been announced this morning. Dig out your buckets and spades and make the trip to Skegness for Playaway, which will arrive early in the 2010 Festival calendar (April 16-18).
Organisers have described the themed event as being inspired by "a good old fashioned balmy beautiful seaside jaunt. Think old school British Holiday capers with a twist of contemporary chic and you'll get close to what the world of Playaway is all about."
Promoter Live Nation is behind the event, Senior Promoter Kelly Chappel said "I'm really excited to be booking Playaway, as the name suggests it promises to deliver on the fun factor with a top class bill of entertainment hosted within great facilities."
Artists already lined up to play the inaugural year include Calvin Harris, Scouting For Girls, Noisettes as well as Chase & Status, I Blame Coco and Tiffany Page.
Similar to the somewhat more indie ATP Festivals, Playaway takes place on a residential holiday camp, so that means no tents, hot showers and chalet accomodation, with organisers offering the option to upgrade to "themed rooms".
Likewise, there's also a Sounds Familiar Music Quiz and an Underground Rebel Bingo Club. Swop Shop nostalgists and the environmentally conscious are also catered for at a Swap-a-rama Razzmatazz, where you can literally pick up a whole new outfit for the festival.
Early bird tickets for the event are on sale from Friday December 11 at 9am, priced at £140.
