Q Exclusive: William Fitzsimmons - Covered In Snow
Regular Track Of The Day readers will recognise William from earlier in the year, when we featured Leave Me By Myself, taken from his re-released album Goodnight. The Illinois based singer/songwriter and former psychotherapist hasn't been resting much since then with his follow up album The Sparrow And The Crow getting a UK release last month, not to mention live recordings and another visit to the UK.
Now he's given Q the world exclusive stream of his new Christmas song, Covered In Snow. If the past Elliott Smith and Sufjan Stevens comparisions have been close before, Covered In Snow confirms and continues in that vein, sitting thematically somewhere between Sufjan's That Was The Worst Christmas Ever and Smith's Angel In The Snow. It's the kind of introverted melancholy, acoustic ballad that feels like it exists in it's own snow globe world. Bon Noël everyone...
