What we've learned today:
1. Word of the day: Regret. As Johnny "Country Life" Rotten has stated that he regrets bringing Sid Vicious into the Sex Pistols, while Billy "Zeitgeist" Corgan regrets splitting up the Smashing Pumpkins. Well Billy, we wouldn't exactly weep if you brought back the original line-up.
2. Fatboy Slim and David Byrne are set to release a 22-track double album documenting the life of former Filipino First Lady Imelda Marcos (the one with all the shoes). The album will be released in February 2010, and features guest vocals from Florence Welch, Tori Amos, Martha Wainwright, Sia, Róisín Murphy and Santigold among others.
3. Courtney Love has lost custody of her and Kurt Cobain's daughter Frances Bean Cobain.
4. A video of Axl Rose attacking a paparazzi in a Los Angeles airport has been made available online.
5. Update: A message has appeared on Guns 'N Roses Myspace page suggesting it was an "aggressive" photographer who initiated the punch-up between Rose and the snapper.
6. Oh, hang on. Axl Rose has issued another statement on Guns' Myspace claiming the previous message was not authorised by the singer. Hopefully more on this as the story evolves.
7. RATM's guitarist Tom Morello has backed the campaign to send Killing In The Name to #1 in the UK Christmas chart. The rock anthem is currently slightly ahead of the the rival: The X Factor winner's cover version of a Miley Cyrus song.
8. It's the last Daily B-Sides this year! Oh, thanks so much, you may be seated. We will be back next year/decade with a lot more of byte-sized snippets of the world in music and the world of Q. Until then: Drive carefully, never let a friend write "LOL" and have a very merry Christmas.
Oasis-Watch:
Liam's new band (Oasis 2.0 apparently...) are hoping to have their first album out by July 2010.
Fru-Watch:
A few more news outlets are picking up on John Frusciante leaving Chili Peppers. Fru-watch are retreating into a corner violently shaking our heads.
Dictionary-defying Tabloid Headline Of The Day:
"Lil's Meat 'n' Greet" (The Sun)
Daily Annoyance:
The hyperactive iPod Nano advert occupying half the screen of several music websites. Enough!
On The Office Stereo:
Goldhawks
2010 Warp Records
Liars
