So Many Dynamos - New Bones (Live)

Comments

Illinois' So Many Dynamos are a strange lot. Not only do their appearance suggest they're more at home behind chemistry sets, test tubes and metals no one really can pronounce than guitars, and not only do they have some of the most hilarious band photos since Nickelback (although SMD's are intentional) - they produce a sufficiently unique sound to put them between Postal Service, Hot Chip and library-friendly Brits Ex-Libras.

New Bones then, taken from the palindrome-happy quartet's third album The Loud Wars, is a staccato synths-and-beats piece of intriguing geektronica, which lingers robotically in a Casio-heavy landscape before evolving into a miniature frenzy of digital tweaks, indie guitar-riffs and the slightest hint of noise. Rad.

The Loud Wars is out in the UK on February 22.
