Girls - Morning Light
Providers of one of last year's most melodic long players, the shoegazey inspired duo Girls return with new single Morning Light. Those not already familiar with the band may also not be aware that lead singer Chris Owens grew up in the Children Of God cult, was given his first guitar by Fleetwood Mac's Jeremy Spencer and was eventually taken in by a millionaire philanthropist before starting Girls. So lets face it, an office job was never likely to be on the cards... instead we are treated to hazy, melodic, drenched guitars, reminiscent of the early '90s and at times the Afghan Whigs with more melody. Many worse ways to start the day, I'm sure...
