In the run-up to the inaugural New To Q Sessions, we will each day present a track from one of the performers.
Straight outta Woodbridge come The Cheek, formerly Cheeky Cheeky And The Nosebleeds, a five-piece ensemble who reference Andy Warhol in their music videos and whose fondness for Roxy Music extends to roping in Roxy's Andy McKay on sax and oboe on this, their debut single.
Initial impact then: A style-conscious and suitably blase group whose outlook of the world is one as seen through a camera lens. But where the mint-green leather jackets and keytar glimmer with their absence, The Cheek more accurately reflect a bizarre and intruiging melting pot of early 90's/early 00's pseudo-art rock and intriguing coolness, like Suede rattling through the more poppy moments of Dandy Warhols.
Hung Up is out now.
