After first appearing on last year's Splitting The Atom EP under the moniker Bulletproof Love, the Guy Garvey-sung Flat Of The Blade is arguably the most eerie and downbeat moment of Heligoland.
Talking to QTheMusic, Robert Del Naja revealed that he approached Garvey with a set of lyrics which the Elbow singer rejected, only for the pair to get drunk and scribble down the haunting words that appear on the song.
Accompanied by the overpowering stillness of Ewen Spencer's short film, it transcends beyond its original habitat, subtly adding an undefined sub-story to melancholic nature of the song.
