Glastonbury ETC vote winners announced

Comments

The thousands of votes have been counted - and in conjunction with our friends at Glastonbury Festival we're pleased to announce that the winners of this year's Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition People's Choice vote are Edinburgh-based folk-poppers Mayhew. They join the judges' 11 choices in this month's live finals, where one act will win a main stage slot at the 40th Anniversary Glastonbury Festival.

But that's not all. Unfortunately, one of the judges' 11 picks is not able to make it to the live final. Dizraeli from Dizraeli and the Small Gods will be en route to Cairo, Egypt to perform another gig. As he's made the admirable vow never to fly again, he's making the trip by train, which means he's had to pull out of the competition (though we will be passing his demo CD to our stage bookers). You can actually follow his journey to Egypt through a daily blog here.

That means the second-place act from the People's Choice vote - emotive Birmingham band Faded Cadence - will also now go though to the live finals.

A big thanks to all of the bands that took part, and to all of you who voted. Look out for more news on the live finals soon.
