John Grant - I Wanna Go To Marz
Formerly the frontman of the oft-overlooked cult favourites The Czars, John Grant is set to release a solo album, made with the backing of the magnificent Midlake.
I Wanna Go To Marz could be the single to lift off the career of this neglected troubadour. Opening with a melancholic piano weeping rhythms reminiscent of Tubular Bells, the emotion builds when accompanied by a wave of strings into an evocative, bleeding hearted, musical outpouring.
Solo debut album Queen of Denmark, is due to be released in April and promises to be an effort of gravitas and grace. Grant's baritone voice explores pain, hurt, hope, fear, regret, and self-recovery, all accompanied by label-mates Midlake.
