Hailing from the deep south of America, along the banks of the Mississippi, Lissie has imbibed folk/country culture. Lissie's debut is due for release this summer, is preceded by the single In Sleep, on 5th April this year through Colombia. The album, recorded late last year with Jaquire King (Kings of Leon), is full of dexterity. Folk influences are apparent, but the pure emotion and passion involved in Lissie's delivery is overwhelming.
There are many things that make Lissie's background that make these songs possible. Having a grandfather who was an international barbershop quartet champion, having a great-grandfather who was a train-jumping hobo, and an inability to seperate herself from the midwestern city she grew up in, where people just raise families, get fat, and die satisfied.
Lissie draws comparisons to Stevie Nicks and Chrissie Hynde, but is also able to transcend the past to become a present day icon for lovers of both blues, folk, and country.
