Andreya Triana - Lost Where I Belong
Andreya Triana has been a long time collaborator with Flying Lotus and label-mates Bonobo. She adds an elegant subtle slice of Jazz and folk-inflected soul to any musical partnership. Many will recognise her smooth singing via the 2008 Mr Scruff single Hold On, in which a gruff baseline bounced in tune with her effortlessly warming vocals to produce a great ambient jazz release.
Now, through cult label Ninja Tune, Andreya is to release her debut album this year. Lost Where I Belong is produced by Simon Green who is recognised under the Bonobo alias. The lush harmonies wouldn't be out of place drifting through a smokey Jazz bar in Harlem. The message behind the beautiful music, is illustrated by lyrics expressing how we can all feel disillusioned at times even though we think we are on the right path. Songs like this Track of the Day are always there to provide comfort in times of disillusionment.
