Design the Glastonbury 2010 T-shirt!

Comments

Update: The deadline for entry to the Glastonbury T-Shirt competition has been extended to allow for any postal disruption to International entrants caused by the recent volcanic dust problems.

So, still fancy yourself as an artist/designer?

We're giving you the chance to design the official 40th anniversary Glastonbury T-shirt and win £1000 plus a pair of Glastonbury tickets for your effort.

Send us your design, and we'll get Glastonbury head honcho Michael Eavis to pick his favourite. Not only will the winner get to see their handiwork emblazoned across the chests of thousands of people, but the exceedingly generous Mr Eavis will also hand over a cheque for £1000 and two tickets for the 40th anniversary festival this year.

So, people, get scribbling... Closing date for entries is May 1. Now Extended to May 8, 2010.

Send your entries as hard copy to Glastonbury T-shirt Competition, Q, Endeavour House, Shaftesbury Avenue, London WC2H 8JG.

Competition terms:
The winner will be contacted by phone or email and published in the Q Glastonbury Daily newspaper. The judge's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

A few questions we've received are answered below:

- Is the Competition is open to entrants worldwide?
Yes.

- Does the design have to be in Color or Black and White?
Either is fine.

- Do you require a specific format?
We need postal entry, a print out/paper or card version. You can supply on a cd rom aswell if you wish but a physical hard-copy is needed as the judging is done in an analogue fashion (Q, Emily Eavis and the Glastonbury team sit round the table at the farm to decide).

- Do you let everybody know who the winner is, and if so when and where?
As mentioned above it is announced in the Q Daily paper, published on-site during the festival and also on Qthemusic.com following the official announcement.

- Are there any restrictions on the number of entries?
No restriction on the number of entries... as many as you feel inspired to create!

- Are there any size restrictions?
No size restrictions.

Competition Terms and Conditions.

  • I'm sure it will be fine..they have to make consideration for those that sent to an address that they posted.

We all need this! I wish there were runner-up tickets too. I myself am from South Africa and will be in the UK over June- this could be my only chance to see some of the bands I'm interested in for a while! Good luck to all

  • it sucks a big one. C'mon Q. We all put lots of work in to this. We're not sore losers but we deserve a bit of respect to let us know...why not a gallery of some of the best entries at least?

Posted by Ali at 8:44 PM | 26/05/2010 | Report Abuse

  • I agree, spent a lot of time on this and dedication. it should be mirrored with an announcement at least, if the winner has been chosen.

Posted by Jacob at 6:01 PM | 28/05/2010 | Report Abuse

  • Yeah, the winner has defo been chosen, they wouldn't have enough time to get the t shirts printed if they left it until now. An announcement would be appreciated!

  • Get your act together Q. I spent hours on my design and I'd really like to see what has topped it! Was never expecting a personal response but a bit of news in return for alot of effort wouldn't go amiss!

  • I emailed Glastonbury web team and they replied:

Sorry, although the winner has now been informed, we're not allowed to announce the winner before the Festival - it will be announced in the Q Daily.
    So there's the answer :)

  • I just wondered if the winner of the glastonbury t-shirt competition had been decided on yet? I have been looking out for the announcement but have not yet seen anything.

Posted by jade cummings at 9:10 PM | 13/06/2010 | Report Abuse

  • Think it is totally bad form of the organisers. Ok, so they can't announce it before the event, but it'd at least be nice to say that they have decided and informed the winner. I also provided my email with the entry that took me a couple of days solid work, and lots more thinking about. Sure they get a lot of entries, but it'd take no time to send an email to people saying they at least had the entry.

Definitely won't be entering next year.

Posted by Beth at 4:38 PM | 20/06/2010 | Report Abuse

  • @Beth. Couldn't agree more, badly organised. I spent well over 70hrs on my design. I posted a comment here the other day with a link to my portfolio so others could see my design - Q have decided not to publish my comment and haven't replied my email asking why! Search Behance for my username 'Designaholic'to see it.

  • I have now deduced that I obviously havent won the Design the Glastonbury T Shirt but I cannot believe anyone involved in the Competition could not at least issued a thank you to all who entered.Just a sentence would have done.Like many others I spent many many hours on my design. Its not as if it was one of those brainless phone ins with obvious answers for example.
I feel the losers have been totally disregarded.A little compassion for the unfortunate losers would not have gone amiss.
I put my heart and soul into entering, obviously desperate to go to Glastonbury, and feel we have all been treated with insensitively.I hope no one enters next year.I bet they wouldnt have treated Peter Blake like this over his precious design.
Michael Eavis probably has no idea how shabbily we have been treated.

  • The winning design looked like something you would see on the shelves at ASDA and for your consolation, I spent 5 days there and didn't see a single person wearing it! x

Posted by Polly at 1:55 AM | 05/07/2010 | Report Abuse

  • I agree about the winning design, I have only just discovered that the t-shirt I brought at the festival was not the winning design atall, nevermind I'm glad I didn't get the flag one... read into that what you will
