Fresh from yesterday's free download of a Matthew and the Atlas track, Communion have offered up the third installment of their picks this week - an exclusive preview stream of Shadows of the City by Marcus Foster. Here's what the gang at Communion HQ had to say about it:
"We first came across Marcus last year and instantly fell in love with his unique and sometimes eccentric vocal style and when we booked him for Communion in London he totally blew us away live - the energy he gives out on stage is amazing.
After initially getting him in the studio for a track on the Communion Compilation we decided to make an EP from which this song is taken. It's got such a raw dirty energy to it and is about as brand new as it's possible to be, as we finished mixing it yesterday! The song features a ghost choir consisting of Kev Jones, drummer Chris Maas, Marcus and Matt Hegarty from Matthew and the Atlas from yesterday's track."

Time and time again I am left utterly amazed what he comes up with. It doesn't matter if it's a slower ballad, a heart pumping jam or a beat that makes it impossible not to dance-shimmy in your chair to... he makes it work and makes it entirely unique. I cannot wait to hear the rest of that album now! (Not that I could before, but this official tease has started the official finger biting process. Thanks ;) )

This is stunning! Just when I thought Marcus couldn't possibly impress me any more, he comes up with this. It's hauntingly raw and simultaneously beautiful.

Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! Marcus never ceases to amaze me. To take a song that was written to be played on acoustic guitar and to turn it into this masterpiece, genius. This version by far is the absolute best. I can not wait to hear the rest of the album now. Well done Marcus! Well done!

Oh my goodness, I just finished listening & I'm blown away!!! Amazing job, Marcus & all!! I love this song and every version is just . . . I can't describe it.
