Ryan Adams announces first "Sci-fi Metal" album

Comments

Never one for a dull moment or for being anything less than prolific, things have been worryingly quiet with Ryan Adams lately since his marriage to actress Mandy Moore. Fans will be therefore relieved to hear that the former Whiskeytown/Cardinals man is set to release his "first fully realized sci-fi metal concept album."

Originally recorded in 2006 when Adams was still on Lost Highway records,Orion is to be issued in "extremely limited pressing" on Pax Am, the record label he set up after leaving Lost Highway in 2008.

Solidifying a further departure from the alt. country and Rolling Stones-influenced pop-rock territories he once inhabited, the twelve tracks announced for the record include songs entitled Imminent Galactic War, Electro Snake and Dysappyramid.

According to an advertisement on his label's website it is a very "limited release" and "no copies will be sold on compact disc" so the only way to get the album will be via a limited clear vinyl and download package set, priced at $25 including artwork and a poster.

Orion ships from May 24 and is available to pre-order now from Ryan Adam's website.
