The National election: Which tracks get your vote?

Comments

As the much anticipated High Violet is released there'll be many people hearing The National for the first time. Unlike most bands in these days of hype-and-bust their rise has been more of a steady gradual process (almost critically gradual given the debt incurred on their second album).

The brilliant plus side of all this however, is that any new fans will have four albums and two EP's worth of material to discover and aquaint themselves with and that's just the officially released stuff, not to mention live/alternate versions and early demos.

So... of all this official material what comes most recommended? Which tracks are their outright works of genius or overlooked gems? And which best represent the band's overall sound or provide an in-road or introduction to The National?

Let us know yours so we can compile them into a playlist of the top ten most popular that we'll publish on Friday along with the most descriptive, passionate, eloquent (or downright hilarious) justifications for inclusion.

What's more, we want to give the playlist a suitably evocative title that Matt himself would be proud of...

If you need a refresher as to what you can choose from, here's a link to their material on Spotify. Signed vinyl up for grabs! Everyone that submits their suggestions will be randomly entered into a draw to win one of two signed vinyl copies of the album with two runners-up also receiving High Violet on vinyl, courtesy of 4AD Records.
