After revealing Lou Reed is to perform live with the Gorillaz during their massive Glastonbury set, Damon Albarn indicated the scale of what festival goers can expect saying "We've got about 50 or 60 people at one point on stage."
He told Radio 4's Front Row programme, "Lou Reed [will be] arriving and fingers crossed, coming straight to rehearsal. And then we watch the game."
Other band members/additional artists already confirmed to appear on-stage as part of their stellar line-up include:
- Mos Def (also playing West Holts stage separately)
- Gruff Rhys from Super Furry Animals
- Mark E Smith
- Shaun Ryder
- De La Soul
- Pharcyde
- The Syrian National Orchestra
Damon revealed they have a self-imposed an alcohol ban ahead of the gig due to the amount of preparation required, adding it's "not in our nature, but considering how much we've got to get done..."
Gorillaz replace U2 as Friday night headliners on the Pyramid Stage.

No matter how impressive the 'guests' were, the set really sucked. 'Allbran' looked like he didn't want to be there and totally miserable. Huge pauses between songs no one knew (plugging latest album). First time I've ever heard people around me have conversations about what they were going to see on Saturday, then leave en-masse after an hour. I realise they were late additions, but they're no stranger to the Glasto stage: change the set to one with more general appeal and act professional. One of the worst acts to ever play (shame, as the original Gorillaz a few years back at Glasto were amazing).
Gorillaz? more like Bore-zillaz's!

I have to say I completely disagree with that comment, I loved every minute of it although I do take your point about the gaps, that's something they need to work on. I normally shy away from pyramid acts as the lineup usually contains the usual combination of drab re-hashed 70's rock and retro hairstyles. What the gorillaz achieved was throwing all that away and managing certainly the most visual and one of the most accomplished all round, here and now live shows I've seen for sure on that stage. I wasn't watching the same albarn as you clearly as I didn't see it like that at all. I was never really a fan of his although Blur were okay but his other projects especially Gorillaz have given me big respect for his work. Headlining glastonbury two years on the bounce with different bands. Has that happened before?
