Melodica, Melody and Me - Piece Me Back Together

As folk becomes ever more en vogue with Laura Marling and Mumford & Sons gaining Mercury nominations, this group look certain to join the fold of exciting acts. Their take on the genre retains all the fragility associated with inspirational influences including Bert Jansch and Victor Jara, yet also adds a little spice from unexpected areas including reggae and dub.
The Brixton based group have already supported prolific acts including The Whitest Boy Alive, Johnny Flynn, and the two aforementioned nominees. The six-piece are keen to let the music speak for itself, having only recently reluctantly set up a Twitter account. All six members went to Graveney school in South London. From the word go music too prominence in their friendship. Meeting in an attic to smoke and play music, they were introverted, and used music rather than words to communicate.
Through this meekness they have developed an incredibly tender lyrical technique, while also incorporating reggae influenced bass lines which have been quick to get the crowds moving at gigs. Their new single Piece Me Back Together is scheduled for release next Monday.
