AM - Darker Days
To celebrate the release of his debut album Future Sons & Daughters, AM is giving away today's Track of the Day, Darker Days, to download for free! AM was born in Oklahoma and raised in New Orleans and currently resides in Los Angeles. He has a melting pot of influences from around the world from tropicalia to acoustic ballads.
While growing up in New Orleans AM worked in a record store. He was taught how to play the guitar by fellow musicians who frequented the store and began playing in local bars when aged only 15. The album clearly asserts self confidence which springs from a long held love of music and an ability to adapt styles in order to build upon previous inspiration rather than just to imitate it.
AM has previously spent time touring in support of French electro-pop duo, AIR, while also having previously warmed up for Charlotte Gainsbourg and Brazilian songwriter Caetano Veloso on her North American tour earlier this year. The diversity of this album ensures a similarly broad range of fans. Produced and recorded by Charles Newman, this record displays the full range of his talent. Flowery guitar riffs and sunshine melodies are often placed alongside melancholic moments. Darker Days is an uplifting number, emphasising hope and Love in times of despair.
