Chapel Club - All The Eastern Girls
London based Chapel Club were swamped with positive praise at the beginning of this year as being an exciting prospect for lovers of shoe-gazing, with White Lies and Editors being mentioned in particular. Luckily as the furore subsides what is left here is a band who refuse to be pigeon holed so easily and who are consistently showing that there are more levels to their sound than the earlier comparisons would suggest.
All The Eastern Girls, due out on 11 October, is a lively number with a pounding chorus that is very hard to forget, not that you would want to. The band are Vocalist Lewis Bowman, whose lyrics are reportedly inspired by Ernest Hemingway and Ted Hughes. Michael Hibbert and Alex Parry wield the guitars, Liam Arklie is on Bass and Rich Mitchell is the drummer.
The group released previous single O Maybe I in February. This Paul Epworth produced single gives a flavour of what can be expected on their debut album which is due out early next year. The release promises intricate melodies and brooding melancholic metaphors. Live shows already boast this intensity. You can catch Chapel Club performing around the country as the festival season is still in full swing, before continuing a UK tour.
