Radiohead - everything in its right place
Jonathan Everything: For me this is the moment Radiohead turned a massive corner and forgot everything that had come before by stripping themselves back to virtually nothing. Very brave and very rare.
R. Kelly - Trapped In The Closet Episode 4
It is not possible to talk about trapped in the closet with someone who hasn't seen or heard it. This is one of the best episodes from the 'album five', ie. 'pre-midget' and when the whole thing existed in his head and studio as a serious work. Amazing.
10cc - I'm Not In Love
A very early attempt at making a synth out of voice samples, something in the production of this song has always moved me, it sounds very ethereal and otherworldly, at a time when that kind of thing wasn't ten-a-penny.
Simon & Garfunkel - The Boxer
This pair have really amazing melodies that have a timeless quality, great voices too. This song is one among hundreds I could choose.
Arvo Part - Spiegel im Spiegel
This composer has been a long favourite of mine, ridiculously beautiful and simple - real life and death music.
Micheal Jackson - Stranger In Moscow
A great, sad, funky storm - this song was the direct influence on our own 'NASA is on your side' which I wrote after about 2 weeks of listening non-stop to this. Also features an unbelievably loud snare that enters really late in the song, brilliant outro.
Deftones - Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)
I realised recently that I was probably quite influenced by the singer in this band, they are extremely heavy but always maintain a strong sense of harmony and the drummer is brilliant.
Destiny's Child - Say My Name
Everything about this is just rhythm and dexterity in it's purest and most exciting form, it's so clever in theme, execution, style.

These tracks were also on Jonathan's eclectic list, but are not currently on Spotify:
Kate Bush - Deeper Understanding
This is from my favourite Kate Bush album 'The Sensual World', for the whole album she is joined by an amazing Bulgarian vocal group and on this track she sings about love for a computer program, accompanied by these totally dischordant Bulgarian singers. What's great about it is that the technological terms are very outdated (1989! "I was loading a new program I ordered from a magazine - I press execute") but the theme is more relevant than ever.
Steve Reich - Different Trains, Electric Counterpoint
I had an amazing woodwind version of this called 'New York Counterpoint' that I can't seem to find anywhere. We all love Reich, as do many fans of post-rock or dance music, his influence spans so many genres and he is a touchstone for most of the good new bands of recent times.
Everything Everything kick off their UK tour on September 30. Tickets can be found here.
