Gered Mankowitz doesn't need an introduction, but we like him so much we'll give him one anyway.
One of the greatest music photographers over the last 50 years, Mankowitz shot several of The Rolling Stones' most iconic pictures from the 60's, and has portrayed everyone from Eurythmics to Oasis - not to mention that portrait of a young Marianne Faithfull.
Now, a collection of rare and classic portraits of Jimi Hendrix, including arguably his most famous portrait, are on display at The Snap Galleries in Piccadilly, and QTheMusic are proud present a selection of it right here!
The exhibition The Experience: Jimi Hendrix at Mason's Yard, combines Mankowitz' classic black-and-white, handmade silver gelatin prints of Jimi and The Experience, with a contemporary range of psychedelic artwork made by Mankowitz, based on his own b/w Hendrix images.
The photographer had two sessions with Hendrix in 1967, two sessions that resulted in some of the most striking and iconic images in modern music photography. Not bad to say the least.
