Robert Plant - Angel Dance
After 2007's Mercury nominated collaboration with Alison Krauss which also won the Grammy for album of the year, Robert Plant is back with his ninth studio album due out on 13 September . The follow up to Raising Sand is set to delve even deeper into his extensive Americana influences. New interpretations of previous inspirational acts including the drone rock of Low's Silver Rider and Monkey, The gospel harmonies which transform The Kelly Brothers' Falling In Love Again, and a desolate banjo-driven version of Satan Your Kingdom Must Come Down flavour the new record.
The title of this LP, Band Of Joy, is a reference to Plant's first band formed with drummer John Bonham in 1967. The album is co-produced by Plant who worked alongside Nashville legend Buddy Millar while creating the reworks. His new Band Of Joy are on the road and will be playing a selection of UK dates, see below for details.
The single preceding Band Of Joy by a week is Angel Dance, a reminder of Plant's expansive melting pot of diverse styles that he can call upon at any time. A Middle Eastern chorus melody provides the hook while soft percussive elements provide atmosphere when set alongside quaking guitar shakes. The song is a rendition of the Los Lobos classic.
