Paolo Nutini - New Shoes
Ahead of his Q Awards With Russian Standard Vodka gig tonight we celebrate one of Paolo's most loved songs New Shoes, the fourth single to be taken from his debut album These Streets released in 2006. The Scotsman will be performing an exciting set picking the hits from both his hugely selling records.
Nutini had previously expected to follow in his father's footsteps and continue the family business by running their local chip shop but after a little encouragement was given to him by a teacher at school along with the praise of his Grandfather, he ended up deciding to take a different path. He initially left to became a roadie shortly after finishing education and then ended up working as a runner in Glasgow's Park Lane studio.
From here went on to support the likes of KT Tunstall and Amy Winehouse as well as The Rolling Stones. His accessible guitar driven pop songs proved to be a huge success and his debut peaked at number three in the UK charts as well as going triple platinum. Four singles were taken from the release, all gaining large amounts of radio airplay and thus propelling him into the mainstream.
In 2009 his second album Sunny Side Up carried the momentum forwards and hit the number one spot. A further four singles were taken from the disc meaning that Nutini has a wealth of material to pull out for the Q Awards With Russian Standard Vodka show this evening.
