YOUYOU Mentoring Scarlet Page photography masterclass and shoot with The Magic Numbers at Proud Camden.



Q's partnership charity for the Q Awards 2010 with Russian Standard Vodka is YouYou Mentoring. On Monday October 11, YouYou ran a Music Photography Masterclass with professional music photographer Scarlet Page who has photographed The White Stripes, Stereophonics and Keith Richards amongst many others.

Two unemployed youngsters from London, Connie Gurie, 17 and Doug Topott, 19 got to attend the Masterclass ran by Scarlet at Proud Camden, and later the same week got to put everything they'd learned into practice - on a photo shoot with The Magic Numbers!

Speaking after the day's shoot with the band, Connie felt she had gained a lot of knowledge and confidence, "Masterclass with Scarlet Page was amazing. I learned so much and then having the chance to photograph The Magic Numbers was brilliant.  Huge thank you to YouYou Mentoring for helping me believe in my work and helping me in my career path into photography."


Doug was also highly enthusiastic about the outcome of the project, "Its been such an amazing experience being mentored by Scarlet Page, one of the top rock music photographers.  The photo shoot with The Magic Numbers was awesome.  I love photography and can't thank YouYou enough for giving me this fantastic mentoring opportunity." 

Describing her own involvement Scarlet said, "I found being a mentor really rewarding, I had the fortune of having two mentees who had much enthusiasm and passion for photography. They were so keen to learn and when it came to their shoot with The Magic Numbers they excelled themselves and produced results far beyond my expectations. 

They were nervous as I would be but I was there to guide them and make them look at things they may have missed and take full advantage of their allotted time with the band. All in all it has been a pleasure to be involved in such a worthwhile charity and I look forward to seeing where Connie and Doug's next chapter takes them..."
