Squeeze - Loving You Tonight

squeezepressshot160x120Squeeze - Loving You Tonight

Spot the difference has always been a great way to entertain children while secretly enjoying the challenge yourself more than they are. For those of us who have often felt intimidated by all the confusing numbers in a sudoku puzzle it may well have remained a guilty pleasure covered up by a copy of the morning broadsheets while travelling to an important meeting. Now there's no shame and literally nothing to hide as Squeeze aurally test fans with Spot The Difference, a collection comprising of their best loved hits re-recorded by the band as faithfully to the original versions as possible.

With a prolific career beginning way back 1973, Squeeze have amassed a great collection of era defining guitar-pop. Here reworks of Cool For Cats, Pulling Mussels (From The Shell), and the classic Up The Junction are celebrated in style.

The motivation behind this new release came from a tour in the USA. The band found that playing together once again led to a desire to record. After seeing yet another of their songs used in a TV commercial without their approval or knowledge, and the band decided to take action in the form of regaining ownership of their catalogue. The band, including new members Simon Hanson on drums and Stephen Large on keys, began the project with vigour. Glenn Tilbrook luckily found that he still had a large number of the original instruments, amps and mixers, thus making Spot The Difference even more authentic.

Loving You Tonight has been chosen by the band to be the first single from the record. The song was Originally sung by Carrack and never released as a single in the UK, the re-record has vocals by Glenn, lending a contemporary feel while being performed with all the energy of a band in their twenties. The group have had a huge influence on the likes of Lily Allen, Mark Ronson, The Feeling, Broken Bells and Andy Burrows but are set to captivate yet another generation as they end the year with an ongoing UK tour.
