Q Classic Album
Wings took home the award for Q Classic Album at the Q Awards With Russian Standard Vodka 2010 for Band On The Run.
Taking the stage for the final award of the night, Paul McCartney was greeted by a starstruck Tom Meighan, before holding a short speech. Not forgetting to mention his other band, Macca stated that "The Beatles were a pretty hard act to follow, and we followed them" before giving some advice to upcoming generations of musicians:
"To all the younger bands, which is pretty much everyone, keep rockin'. I love ya." then adding, "To Wings and The Beatles, thank you for getting me here. And, this one's for Linda!".

I am delighted that WINGS have been honoured in this way!
The Beatles - brill (obviously) but I always felt that even without the fab four link WINGS were
an iconic 70's band in their own right
I think it's worth mentioning that Linda McCartney was a pioneer of the 'girl in the band' thing
We all wanted to be her - how cool WAS that woman!
I remember us school girls getting old rusty fashion & fabric scissors and cutting our fringes spiky to be like her photo in the JACKIE magazine! lol
What a gal!
WINGS rocked!

BAND ON THE RUN - classic album indeed!
Sometimes when I am bored I still quote out loud to anyone that will listen -
Down in the jungle living in a tent
you don't need money
you don't need rent
you don't even know the time -
but you don't mind! (pause) HO-HAY-HO (pause) HO-HEY-HO
lol
Wish I could have seen WINGS LIVE
Seen Mr.Mac out on tour at Hampden recently
I must have been the only person there - wishing that he would get over that Beatles stuff and get to MRS.VEE - so that I could sing the above! lol
Must get the remix launched recently!

I was lucky enough to see Wings in 73,75,76 & 79 and a great little band they were too. Band on the run deserves this award...it truly is a classic album with not a bad track on it.
Having met paul on a few occasions (and Linda) i'd like to say what a lovely friendly couple they are/were. My hero since 1963...inspirational and a great role model.
Rock on Paul.
